sprinkler system

After making it through two summers of watering our lawn with just a hose and sprinkler attachment, Shad's dreams came true this Spring with the installment of a new, automatic sprinkler system. Hallelujah.

First, Shad dug...

...and dug...

...and dug some more...

...until he got to the main line that runs off the meter.

Then our friend Heath, who knows how to install sprinkler systems, spent several different days helping us get everything set up and installed.

Drake and Graham were right there the whole time, talking away and "helping" when they could.

And although the three of these boys can dig really well...

...when it came time to dig the trenches for the pipe, they used something with a little more power.

Drake and Graham were in awe.

Don't mess with Heath.

The trencher dug these beautiful trenches all over our lawn.

And when I say all over...

...I mean all over.

After that it was a matter of placing the main station boxes and fitting all the pipe together.

We're grateful that Heath knew what he was doing.

And even though our yard looks like a wreck now, just you wait until later this year.

Shad's already imagining mornings of freedom from not having to place a sprinkler around the yard.

And apparently it takes four people to install a sprinkler head.

Or maybe it just takes one, but four is way more fun.

And finally, voilĂ !

Many thanks to Heath. We can enjoy our summer because of him.

Hooray for you! We installed a sprinkler system in our previous house (well, we hired a company and paid a ton of money, but didn't have to lift a finger). It was TOTALLY worth it, even when the sprinkler heads would get broken. In our current house, we had to replace 4 sprinkler heads this year. We were so pleased with how simple it was. I did 3 of them while Jeff laid down new grass seed in some bare spots. In a few hours, we had our yard up and going for the season. I hope your yard is similarly simple to keep, and that your kids take full advantage of it! :)

How great is that! I love your pictures and your captions and of course those boys are just adorable! Yay for no more dragging the hose around!

Wow, what a project! And what a nice, big yard you have for your boys to fun amuck in! :)
