snowfest

In Rexburg, there's a Snowfest.  If you have a lot of snow, you might as well have a party, right?  We decided to go check it out with Shad's parents.

They had a lot of different events, from sledding to free hot chocolate to a christmas tree bonfire.

The most-watched event was the Polar Plunge.  Imagine standing in your swimsuit in below-freezing temperature.

Then jumping into a freezing cold pool when it was your turn.  Doesn't make sense, does it?

Only about 50 (only 50?) people signed up to jump into a cold pool for our entertainment.  Quite a few dressed up to make it a little more interesting.  I don't think I'll be doing the Polar Plunge anytime soon.

We all went on a horse-drawn carriage ride around the park.

I think they had at least four different ones going.

The boys searched a huge snow pile for buried treasure.

Arrrrrr matey!  Me found me treasure!

Once they found a "gold" coin, they could take it to a table to trade it in for a prize.

The boys really enjoyed the snow graffiti station.

It took some doing to move them on to something else.

By the time we'd seen what we wanted to, we were plenty cold and ready to go home and warm up.

Happy winter!

That's a good amount of snow! It's only snowed (for real, not just the light dusting) maybe two times this winter. We had a record high yesterday of 73 degrees. Crazy!

Jordan's never been one for cold weather or snow. I've given up on getting him snow gear, since it just sits unused. Luckily he's now getting to the age where not too many of his friends care, either.

Your kids seem to thoroughly love the snow. Hooray for you! I love how content they look when they are outside.

BTW - the pumice stone worked great on the trouble spots and didn't even require any pushing to fix them. Thanks for the reminder! I used to have some, but when we moved, they were misplaced. I hate moving.

That looks like a lot of fun! I really should take the time to enjoy the snow more, because I'm sitting here feeling envious of the snow graffiti.
