We promised Drake a "friend" birthday party this year, so we did it Friday after we got home from Colorado.
He wanted to do a water party, so despite the poor weather forecast for the week, we sent out invitations for a water birthday party.
Fortunately for us, Friday was the one (and only) day of the week that it was actually warm and sunny.
So party we did. We started with a treasure hunt and a little playing around.
Then jumped right into opening presents.
Following presents we had cake and ice cream.
Drake picked out the candles he wanted in his cake, but I didn't tell him they were "trick" candles.
So when they kept lighting up, his friends jumped in to help.
Once presents and cake were out of the way, it was water time.
Shad started them off with a water balloon toss game.
That eventually turned into a run-away-from-Shad-as-fast-as-you-can-because-he-has-the-bucket-of-water game.
After that, we just let the kids play however they wanted to.
This cute girl (Tandi) didn't have a swimsuit on, so I was trying to keep her out of the water. Obviously, I wasn't very good about it.
Pretty soon Avery joined her and the two of them had a great time in their own little pool.
Once the kids started to wind down a little, Shad brought around Jell-o Jigglers for everyone to snack on.
And I put out some blueberries, strawberries and crackers with cheese to pretend like we were healthy and hadn't just eaten cake and ice cream in the middle of the afternoon.
I'm glad it warmed up just enough that we could put on a "water party" for Drake and his friends.
And truth be told, Drake is already counting down to his 7th birthday.
