Colorado - part 1: A birthday day

We went out to Colorado for a week to see my family. We planned to be there when my sister and her family were also going to be there, and also to see one of my brothers right before he left on his mission.

Because we did a lot of stuff, and I took a lot of pictures, I'm dividing the "Colorado" posts into three different posts. They're not really in chronological order though, and there is still a slew of pictures to get through...

Leaving the green fields of Idaho.

It's pretty in the summer.

The kids did surprisingly well on the trip. Here, Graham is lounging in back, enjoying a passing train.

Avery enjoying two of her favorite pasttimes: putting on shoes;

and looking at books.

Drake is making sure that his duck is as comfortable as can be.

One of the first things we did while in Colorado was go to the Spring Fling at a local park.

Graham coloring a tile.

The kids and cousins planting grass seed.

Bubba and Avery.

Huge checkers and chess games.

Bike stunts. These were fun to watch.

Bubble blowing.

An inflated jumping cage.

Noodles galore.

An inflated obstacle course.

We spent quite a bit of time at this one.

Kids and adults alike.

The kids had fun doing an obstacle course that was just on the grass too.

These two boys were born 4 days apart.

I'm glad we can get these cousins together once in a while.

Avery and this one are 5 days apart.

They wore themselves out at the Spring Fling.

Completely out.

That same day was the birthday of two of Drake's cousins: brothers born four years apart, but on the same day.

We celebrated with pizza for dinner.

And a race car cake for dessert.

Opening presents was small chaos.

Technically the day belonged to this cute boy...

... and his younger brother (their sister's birthday is only 11 days before theirs).

But because Avery had a birthday the same week, she also got presents.

And because Drake also had a birthday earlier that week, he got some gifts from relatives too.

And because Graham was the only cousin in the group who didn't get to celebrate his birthday within the 11 days that the other cousins' birthdays all fall (except for Austin who was born in September but wasn't quite old enough to feel left out, and Jayden, who wasn't there), he also received a few small gifts to make him feel included. I repeat: small chaos.

Happy birthday J.

Happy birthday L.

Happy day for all.

Holy Birthdays, Batman! Glad to see you had so much fun. I didn't know your and Dan's kids were so close in age. What a fun thing for when you get together!
